Our Regional Professional Book Study Series is a powerful way for educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders to deepen their knowledge, join a community of practice dedicated to innovating in education, and directly influence their daily practices at the classroom, school, district, and community level.

This spring, we’re offering three book studies to our community. Registration for these book studies is free. All book studies include:

  • free copy of the book
  • Clock hours or continuing education credits for educators
  • Six virtual sessions with colleagues, leaders, and changemakers from across the region
  • At least one of the six virtual sessions will include time to learn from and interact with the author

The books for our Spring 2022 Series were chosen based on the priorities identified by the Region 16 Comprehensive Center (R16CC) Advisory Board, which is made up of educational leaders from across AK, OR, and WA, and the State Education Agencies.

Each book study is facilitated by expert instructors covering content areas pertinent to today’s K-12 schools. Topic areas include:

  • Equitable classroom practices and collaborations
  • Rethinking data collection
  • Centering students and families to reimagine systems
  • Working toward collective impact in education.

Book studies are designed to help participants work together to interrogate current practices in education and build networks to support systemic change.

This series is not a one-and-done. Our goal is to support participants on their journey to creating equitable educational systems in their communities that center the student and family experience. Participants should be prepared to vulnerably engage in conversations that radically reimagine current practices and prepare to leave with a tangible network of support and a plan of action.

All book studies take place for six consecutive weeks, meeting for 1.5 hours per week. We hope you’ll join us!
