This year, we’re bringing leaders from across Alaska, Oregon, and Washington together to build cross-state communities of action that grow regional capacity to activate systems change in education. We’ll learn together and from one another, grow networks, and deepen our understanding of systemic issues that create barriers to student success. Ready to join us?
Indigenous Education
Our Regional Professional Book Study Series is a powerful way for educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders to deepen their knowledge, join a community of action dedicated to innovating in education, and directly influence their daily practices at the classroom, school, district, and community levels. Our professional book study series was designed for committed leaders in education to come together to:
- Build relationships across the region
- Continue changing the trajectory upward for Native student wellbeing and educator success
- Amplify strong practices and approaches to culturally based Native education
- Provide those who work in Native education across the region a means to build capacity based on the specific needs of our regional context

Join Our Journey!
Invite a colleague or two to join you on this journey. We both encourage and welcome teams in our book studies, as they’ll help you continue the work of our community of action in your workplace. Individual teachers, administrators, community members, parents, academics, and those from higher education are all welcome, too.
The books featured in this series were proposed by members of our Advisory Board Program. Our Advisory Board includes leaders from Nations and Tribes, state education agencies, local education agencies, institutions of higher education, and businesses and organizations. Their knowledge, experience, and perspectives help guide our regional project and priorities.
All book studies include:
- A free copy of the book
- Optional clock hours or continuing education credits for educators
- Six virtual sessions with colleagues, leaders, and changemakers from across the region
- At least one of the six virtual sessions will include time to learn from and interact with the author
All book studies take place for six consecutive weeks, meeting for 1.5 hours per week. We hope you’ll join us!
