Charlie Bauer
Charlie Bauer is the ELL / Migrant Education / Indian Education Coordinator for the Southern Oregon Education Service District. Charlie oversees the Migrant Education, Indian Education, English Language Learners programs. His department also oversees the Equity Grant and the African American Black Student Success Grant for the SOESD. Charlie brings over two decades of experience to supporting Oregon families.
Charlie’s “one big dream” for education is that parents should have authentic input into educational processes and decision-making power for their students. Over the years, he has realized that the students he serves do not have access to “dialogue with school district staff, ... [or] administrators” and because of this “there's a huge disconnect between the communities [he serves] and the school district.” Charlie hopes to co-create a space where districts and families can come together to share the practical and useful information families need most. Building this capacity will ensure more authentic input from families that can be turned into direct action from the districts.
