
Jon Lee Claymore
Jon Claymore is the Director of Native Education for the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Washington. Jon has over thirty years of experience working in K-12 education as a teacher, coach, and administrator in the public school system along with the Bureau of Indian Education Schools throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Jon has presented at the national level, speaking on the school improvement strategies schools can use while working in Indian education. Jon was born in Crow Agency Montana, grew up in Fort Yates North Dakota, and is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
Jon received his Bachelor of Arts in Education with a double major in history with an emphasis in political science and physical education/health from Jamestown College and a master’s degree in education administration from Heritage University. Through his close work within school systems, Jon exemplifies his motto of “Going the distance and making a difference in the Native youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow.”
