Carl Chamblee
Carl Chamblee is retired from the Matanuska-Sustina Borough School District. He brings nearly three decades of experience in Alaskan Education serving as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and director of assessment. Carl currently serves as a State School Improvement coach for the Yupiit School District. Beyond this, Carl works with a tribal community on education initiatives in tribal native education for K-12 students.
When asked about his “one big dream” for education, Carl shared that he would “really like to see Alaska somehow access the expertise that they have locally in rural areas and build the capacity of rural leaders in education.” While he sees leaders as parents and family groups, he would like us to continue to grow our own teachers and education system so that our leaders “look like the students that they're serving.” Beyond this, he believes that Tribal Native Education should be intertwined across K-12 education.
