Bernie Sorenson

Bernie Sorenson joins the Region 16 Comprehensive Center as its director, building off a diverse background in education. Most recently, Bernie was a program coordinator with the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, supporting leadership development and systemic change for mission-critical projects, including serving as liaison with the Center. She has previously worked with Comprehensive Centers in the Northwest and held various leadership positions in the education system, including assistant superintendent, principal and central office instructional leader. In addition to work in education, Bernie has provided executive coaching and consulting across the Northwest. Bernie is active in various learning communities of practice with top coaches and systems leaders from all over the world. Her zest for continuous improvement keeps her current with the latest research, theories and best practices in the field of education, systemic change, executive coaching and team coaching. Her clients consistently praise her work, dedication, and wisdom for developing partnerships. Bernie holds both a Bachelor of Science in education and a Master of Education in educational leadership.
